Google Drawings Meme Generator and Creative Google Drawing Activities

Creative Communicator – Students communicate clearly and express themselves creatively for a variety of purposes using the platforms, tools, styles, formats and digital media appropriate to their goals. (ISTE Standards for Students)
Over the years I have become a huge fan of engaging students in visuals. I love to have students create and explore visuals. I believe we learn best when creating is part of the learning process. We need to design activities to get students creating before, during, and after engaging in a learning experience. Today I wanted to share how I engage students in reflecting on our learning using a Meme Generator.

I do my best to engage students in a variety of visual design creation tools, but Google Drawings has become one of my favorites this year. Google Drawings is an incredible resource that sometimes just doesn’t get enough love.  I am writing this post to share some of the activities and resources I’ve used or seen other teachers use connected to Google Drawings. I hope there is something here that everyone can use, regardless of subject or grade level. Up first is a Google Drawings Meme Generator Template. My students and I frequently use memes to reflect on our learning experiences.

You can give each student their own copy using Google Classroom or you can use one of the
URL Shortcuts to distribute a copy or template to students if you don’t use Google Classroom.

Eric Curts also has a nice meme generator template and instructions for creating your own in this post
