This dance is a blend of modern and traditional dances that worked very well without leaving the arts and cultural values contained in the city of Surabaya. Although this dance is a new creation dance, Sparkling Dance Surabaya has been very well known by the people of Surabaya and became one of the welcome dances for tourists or big guests who are coming there.




History of Sparkling Dance Surabaya


Sparkling Dance Surabaya is a dance creation created by Diaztiarni in 2007. This dance was created in order to welcome Surabaya's 714th anniversary by taking the theme of Surabaya Sparkling. From there the dance is named Sparkling Dance Surabaya, with the hope of agility and also the beauty of this dance depicts the identity and spirit of the Surabaya City community that is always shining. Sparkling Dance Surabaya is also a result of a blend of traditional elements such as dance movements, fashion, and traditional music of East Java is packed with the modern style that will show something different and also rich in art and cultural value.




Sparkling Dance Show Surabaya


In the show, this dance is performed by 5 to 10 female dancers. The movement in this dance tends to be fast and also lively with movements that are in tune with the music of the accompaniment. This movement illustrates the nature of Surabaya's modern society which is egalitarian and not slow. In addition, the movement of Sparkling Dance Surabaya refers to the motion of traditional dance moves of Java Timuran that developed in the city of Surabaya. So even though it is a modern dance but does not leave the value of art and culture that exist.




Sparkling Dance Companion Surabaya


Music accompaniment in the show Sparkling Dance Surabaya is a blend of traditional music typical of Java Timuran is packed with modern nuances. In this musical accompaniment, there are various gamelan instruments with a typical barrel from Java Timuran, which is combined with various percussion instruments and others. In addition, traditional music also collaborates with the strains of regional songs, so it will feature a distinctive musical accompaniment but still in tune with the movement in this dance.




Sparkling Dancing Costume Surabaya


At the show, the dancers use costumes such as using the kemben and kebaya on the outside. While at the bottom will use a long cloth along the ankle and wear a variety of sweetener accessories that make the dancers look very beautiful. For colors can usually vary from green, red, yellow, blue, and gold. The hallmark of this dance is found on the wings of gold-colored cloth used as a dancing attribute.
