Lalayon Dance, Traditional Dance From North Maluku






Lalayon Dance is one of the traditional dances originating from North Maluku. This dance is a social dance that contains messages of romance and love. Because this dance contains romantic and loving messages, then, this dance will usually be hosted in pairs and has beautiful movements throughout the dance round. Malay rhythmic song is also the most important element in forming a romantic atmosphere that will support the arrival of the message.




Lalayon Dance Show


At the show, Begins with the dancers crawling into the center of the court. Then all the dancers' eyes will look at each other between male and female dancers as if in a sense of love. Then the male dancer started to make a seductive movement in front of the female dancer.



After that, a female dancer will come up with a smile of a knot in her mouth sign receiving the temptation of a male dancer. The two then circled and their bodies seemed to have a dialogue with each other. Feelings of affection and caring are deeply felt in every movement of these dancers. Each couple will show such deep warmth as a form of their love message.




The Development of Lalayon Dance


Lalayon dance is usually performed on formal occasions such as traditional party or wedding ceremony. This dance is an ethnic work from North Maluku that deserves thumbs up because of the younger generation of Ternate still many know it. They are also not shy and in fact strongly support this dance, probably because of the love value contained in the Lalayon dance. However, this dance is not only a meaningful relationship of love among the youth. This Lalayon Dance can also mean a thanksgiving for the various gifts God has given.
