Kamonesan Dance, Traditional Dance From West Java






Kamonesan Dance is one of the traditional dances originating from West Java. This dance is a description of local wisdom and traditional way of life of the Sundanese people. Characteristic of this dance is the female dancers who bring boboko or basket as a property in the dance.




Kamonesan Dance Show


In the show, Kamonesan Dance is a pair dance and is usually danced by 8 (eight) dancers, consisting of 4 (four) men and 4 (four) women. This dance opens with a male dancer who shows the attraction in dancing with hand movements such as the martial arts movement.



After that, a female dancer with a finger-tapering hand and also a graceful movement shows his skill in action on stage. This movement then continues with the dancers forming a paired formation, in which the position of the male dancer is at the back of the woman.




Kamonesan Dance Show


In this dance, the dancers perform such movements while undergoing daily life, as does a female dancer carrying a basket on the shoulder and going towards a field or a field. While the male dancers will hoist the shawl they have bought and like to welcome the arrival of female dancers. Occasionally male dancers will bend and make a movement to women while giving back boboko or basket that brought.




Dance Clothing Kamonesan


The dancers in this dance usually wear bright and bright colors such as red, blue, yellow and green. In the male dancers usually wear costumes in the form of complete pangsi pants by using a headband, while the female dancers usually wear kebaya complete with headgear. In addition, female dancers will also bring boboko or basket as a property in dancing.
